Description

The 'When life gives you duff melons’ Breakfast

There’s a cruel irony when someone who works for a charity that supports the terminally ill stares death in the face themselves.

Emma Knight is Head of Partnerships and Major Donor Giving at Martlets hospice. Nearly two years ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer which had already spread to her lymph nodes.

Emma’s priorities shifted - number one was staying alive and becoming well again. Next was the wellbeing of her two young daughters, and helping them understand what was happening, and then came her job. And she had to do all of this while dealing with surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

At our December breakfast, Emma will be talking about what she’s learned (including honesty, compassion and a love for the colour yellow), and the impact on her professional life.
