About this Event

The 'Find your voice' Breakfast

"Be yourself" is good advice for most people. For some people, however, there should be an exception - someone like Jody Raynsford.

Born in Brighton but scarred from an upbringing in Worthing, Jody experienced a career rollercoaster. From working for a global law firm to interviewing film stars, getting paid to run across the Sahara to helping US fitness gurus sell tens of millions of dollars of products and becoming a co-host and accidental cult leader of an award-winning podcast, his path has been, well... unconventional.

The one thing that most shaped Jody's career was his unapologetic commitment to bring his personality and sense of humour (much to the dismay of his former employers). It forced a realisation that too few business owners and brands show up as who they really are - and it was Jody's goal to change that.

Now he calls the shots as the founder of Brighton agency, Hello Genius, on a mission to help brands slay the vanilla, harness their difference and build a cult following. His latest book, How To Start A Cult, will be published in May 2021, inspired in part by his popular 2019 Brighton Summit talk.

In this breakfast session, Jody will weave together stories from his career to show you why you need a strong voice for your brand, how personality puts distance between you and everyone else and why it's never wrong to be funny in business - despite what 99% of people tell you.

The Chamber’s monthly breakfast is very popular, so you’ll need to book early. 40 to 60 business people from Brighton and the surrounding areas come together to meet and network virtually on the fourth Friday of each month.

There are a wide range of people who attend from all sectors and all sizes. From sole traders and start-ups, to some of the biggest businesses in the city.

What to expect:

  • Three virtual, networking sessions
  • A talk from a brilliant, local business owner
  • And, a chance to chat with familiar faces and new

Each month there is a guest speaker, who talk about their own experiences of running a business and their own personal journey.

If it is your first breakfast or you haven’t attended in a while the Chamber team are always on hand to make introductions. You will receive an attendee list in your confirmation email
