Orleans House Gallery
Built to entertain royalty, the room has fulfilled its purpose on two occasions hosting both King George I in 1724 and the illustrious Queen Caroline in 1729.
Whilst here you can also enjoy an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the Borough Art Collection picture store and find out more about the Transforming Orleans House project that will enable the gallery to build on past success, and focus on preserving and making accessible important heritage assets – the Gibbs Grade 1 Octagon, historic North Wing, and the important Richmond upon Thames Art Collection for everyone to enjoy.
The restoration of our heritage and creation of a collection study room will enable Orleans to extend its role as a heritage hub for West London providing education, training, and support for the sector.
The Heritage Lottery Fund and the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames have committed funding, but we need to raise a further £375,000, including at least £20,000 from individual donations to reach our match funding target.
All donations and suggestions of help are welcome – if 2,000 people can give £20 we will have reached our individual giving target.
