Event description

Description

Ann Daniels, a single mother with young triplets and no outdoor experience dared to dream big, responded to a newspaper advert and was chosen out of over 250 better qualified applicants to be part of the first all-women’s expedition to the North Pole.

Ann's story will be brought to life with colour photographs and expedition video showing the record breaking North Pole expedition in 2002, illustrating the challenges the team faced along this difficult, dangerous and hostile environment, in temperatures as low as -58°C, Battling carbon monoxide poisoning, frostbite, moving ridges and thin ice and the ever present threat of Polar Bears!

The evening will show how the team worked together, overcoming every obstacle on the way, even when success looked impossible. How due to the melting ice the team had to conquer their fears and think of new ways to do things in this ever changing environment.

Ann will tell her story of how she achieved her goals and ambitions, the challenges the team faced along the way and how the trust they placed in each other, a positive attitude and the unwillingness to give in eventually led them to success. Ann dared to think big and not be afraid to fail!
