Change Minds at Norfolk Record Office
Thu 15 June 2017, 10:30 – 12:00 BST
Join members of the Change Minds group at Norfolk Record Office to explore and imagine life in Norfolk with mental health issues a hundred years ago and today, using the fascinating case records of patients at St Andrew's Hospital (Norfolk County Asylum) in the 1880s. www.changeminds.org.uk
Change Minds is an archival adventure with people from North Norfolk who live with mental health issues. It is a partnership between the Restoration Trust, Norfolk Record Office and Together for Mental Wellbeing funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Social and mental health outcomes are being researched by the School of Psychology at the University of East Anglia and Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust.
The workshop will start with an introduction to Change Minds from participants and partners. The original Case Books will be the source for your investigation of the lives of local people who you meet in the records. Along with Change Minds members you will reflect on mental health treatment then, now and in the future. Your thinking will contribute to Change Minds as we move to our final exhibition and publication and plan our legacy.
