Birmingham Armed Forces Partnership Event

Scott Thornton, Armed Forces Healthcare Programme Manager, Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, and Jane Britton, Area Manager, The Royal British Legion would like to invite you to the inaugural meeting of the

Birmingham Armed Forces Partnership to be held at Birmingham City Council House, Victoria Square on Monday 2nd October 11:00 – 16:30

The aim of the event is to draw together our Partners who are supporting the Armed Forces Community across the City of Birmingham to:

  • Share knowledge and showcase new initiatives

  • Identify potential barriers and problems in the provision of support

  • Present options for funding and support for projects

  • Build future partnerships and a clear action plan for collaboration

We are inviting any and all interested parties who are currently working with Veterans and the Armed Forces Community in the City. The event will be a mix of presentations, networking and workshop opportunities with the aim of producing clear objectives and a way forward for the Partners in the City.

The output from the event will be to:

  • Draw together support for the various initiatives already established in the City

  • Identify gaps and opportunities for development

  • Engage new and relevant participants for the Birmingham AFC Community Covenant Group

  • Initiate a vibrant and collaborative partnership with a robust and achievable action plan working in support of the Armed Forces Community in Birmingham

11:00 – 11:30 Arrival and Partner Market Place (Set-up 10-11am for organisations wishing to have a stand - see N.B.)

11:30 – 11:45 Opening Address – Aims for the day

11:45 – 12:45 Showcase of new initiatives and a highlight on issues or barriers that are impacting on the support to our Veteran community in Birmingham

  • New Veteran Services in the Midlands

    • Royal British Legion and Veterans Gateway - Jane Britton, Area Manager The Royal British Legion

    • Armed Forces Healthcare Navigator Service - Scott Thornton, Programme Manager, Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
