Event description

Description

Do have a fledgling idea for how your organisation could be working better with data to create new opportunities, but need some support to grow or explore it?

In this 2-hour session we’ll give you some practical tips on how to begin and point you to the relevant tools, organisations and courses to get you started on your journey.

Our experts will run you through some exercises and theory to get you started, from working out who you need to engage in the Ouprocess to highlighting the crucial things you need to consider – such as data infrastructure and ethics..

Don’t worry – you don’t need to be a tech whiz or data expert to understand this course. No question is a silly question in our classrooms, and our expert teachers will arm you with all the practical skills you need for applying what you’ve learnt to the real world.
Our session will cover:

  • What data infrastructure is and why it matters
  • Who is doing data innovation well?

  • Why people and processes are crucial to creating value from data

  • Important things you need to consider (ie ethics, standards, skills, licensing, engagement)

  • Where to begin?

  • Tools and support available

  • We’ll also be encouraging you to learn from one-another on the course, and exchange ideas and solutions.

Please note that this is an introductory course to kick-start your project. If you already have a full plan, budget or are looking for specific (ie technical) help, please contact bizdev@theodi.org for more customised advice.

We'll kick off with informal networking over coffee or tea at 2pm, then the training will commence at 2.30pm
