Change: Using Resilience as the Vehicle in a VUCA World
Tuesday, 18 October 2016 from 18:00 to 20:00 (BST)
Change: Using Resilience as the Vehicle in a VUCA World.
Increasingly organisations are operating in a VUCA world i.e one that is volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous. External and internal pressures require employees to be able to cope with increasing workloads, to think differently about how services might be offered, to do more with less, be more competitive etc. In other words, to be flexible and adaptable in a VUCA world.
So how do you move from:
V – volatile to V – vibrant
U – uncertain U - unreal
C – complex C - crazy
A – ambiguous A – astounding
as Kevin Roberts (Chairman of Saatchi & Saatchi) puts it?
Sara Rawstron from Resilience & Brilliance has been successfully working with a number of organisations to support them in managing the pressures brought about by change in a way that builds resilience and increases performance both at the individual and organisational level. ‘Companies are good at managing change structurally but often neglect the human side. Without the commitment, motivation and enablement of employees, resistance and poor performance will sabotage the success of any change initiative.’
Telford and Wrekin Council have been focusing on resilience as a vehicle to enable change. Lois Stewart, their Organisational Development Manager, has been working with Sara Rawstron (through her work with West Midlands Employers) to develop a culture which values the contribution of it’s employees and builds resilience by having conversations designed to better manage the pressures, foster more positive mind-sets and build confidence to adapt to change.
This event is designed to give you:
- The latest thinking on resilience and engagement through change.
- An illustrative case study from Telford & Wrekin Council
- Opportunity to question both Sara and Lois.
Sara Rawstron founded Resilience & Brilliance Ltd in April 2016 after being an independent consultant for 5 years.
