CHANGEMAKER MEET-UP at Hatch w/ Placemaking Piccadilly
Date and time
Come down to meet creative activists, get involved with activities & listen to live music with Manchester Central Foodbank.
About this event
Calling all Changemakers, rebels looking for a cause, music fans, human beings!!
On Thursday 30th September, Manchester Central Foodbank and arts organisation Get It Done will be meeting at Hatch to prepare for Placemaking Piccadilly - their people’s takeover of Piccadilly Gardens; creating a new vision for the square that’s inclusive to all.
We want your voices to reflect on and help platform the stories of people using foodbanks and community groups across the city. Get stuck in with creative arts activities, help make a banner and learn about volunteering for our upcoming Piccadilly takeover event or sit back and enjoy the tunes of local musicians and DJs!
WHAT'S ON
📣 BANNER MAKING
We’ll be making banners ahead of our Piccadilly Takeover in October, so grab a paintbrush and help us make some signs, protest banners and more!
✏️ DESIGN PICCADILLY GARDENS
Ever thought about what you’d do if you were in charge of the city? Come and draw what you’d like to see in the square. We’ll be hanging up these community drawings across all of Hatch!
🎙 SHARE YOUR VOICE
As part of our campaign with Manchester Central Foodbank we’ll be sharing and platforming the stories of our foodbank users. We want to create a genuine conversation about poverty in Manchester, so share your reflection and contribute to our library.
🎸 MUSIC
We’ll be joined by Manchester’s finest DJs and acoustic musicians performing on the stage at Hatch. Keep your eyes peeled for our lineup to be announced in the next couple of days!
🤝 MEET-UP
If you’re a student and this is the start of term, what better way to meet likeminded young people who care about creating social change! This will be a great chance to socialise, so grab a beer and make some pals!
Bring a tin of food 🥫 as entry, and come down on down!
MUSIC LINE-UP
🎶 First up we have Dr Fabola - a Manchester based singer/songwriter whose upbeat acoustic pop is laced with rootsy folk, world music and jazz.
🎸 Next along we have Olivia Browse, an indie pop artist that fuses influences from bubblegum pop to indie rock
💥 And towards the end of our evening we’ll have Fran from DJ collective Shifting Spheres bringing the NRG!!!
Our People’s Takeover event as part of Placemaking Piccadilly will take place on Saturday 16th October, where we’ll have a line-up of fun and creative activities for all ages to get involved with, asking the question what would you change in Piccadilly Gardens if you had the chance, and how we can make it a more inclusive space for all Greater Manchester citizens?
