The presentation will cover the recent changes to BS 9999, however, it should be noted that this is not a line by line review of the documents.

Declan, a Senior Fire Engineer at Hoare Lea, has several years’ experience within the Fire Safety Engineering sector, since graduating from Glasgow Caledonian University with an Honours degree in Fire Risk Engineering. He has recently completed a master’s degree in Fire Safety Engineering at the University of Central Lancashire during which time he undertook a detailed review of external fire spread calculations.

Declan has extensive experience on prestigious educational, residential, health care, and retail and commercial developments, providing advice on issues ranging from means of escape to structural fire protection, and has led the fire engineering design on key projects such as the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

In addition, Declan has continued to work to develop the use of computational modelling for fire engineering, including computer modelling to analyse people movement during evacuation and computational fluid dynamic modelling for smoke movement.
