See how being White Ribbon Accredited enables your organisation to raise awareness, encourage men to be part of the change that is needed, promote equality and ensure everyone knows how to be an ally and where to get help.

On Tuesday 28th November from 12:30-1pm, Anthea Sully, Chief Executive of White Ribbon UK, will be joined by Paul Staines from Newcastle City Council; and Lydia Fairman at Network Rail.

You’ll hear first hand from White Ribbon Accredited Organisations about how the process worked for their organisations, the challenges and the successes and their ambitions.

Meet the Panel:

Paul Staines, Communities Officer at Newcastle City Council. Paul is the White Ribbon Project Officer at Newcastle City Council. He is based in the Community Safety and Resilience Team. Paul is a proud local government officer, having worked across the UK in a variety of roles since 1986. Paul has significant experience in leading on positive behaviour change projects from neighbourhood-based work to EU-wide environmental programmes. Paul is a vocal advocate for the White Ribbon campaign, including encouraging men and boys at work and in his social life to show they can be active in addressing the scourge of gender-based violence. He is pleased to have assisted other organisations to become White Ribbon Accredited or White Ribbon Support Organisations.

Lydia Fairman (BEM), Head of Capability and Skills Development at Network Rail and GBRTT. Lydia leads a team who are focused on planning for the future. Committed to increasing diversity and gender equity, Lydia works to increase the number of women working within engineering roles and within the rail sector, to create a working culture that will mean those women feel safe, respected and will want to stay. With a varied background beginning in technical recruitment, Lydia’s worked in specialist, strategic and generalist HR roles. Lydia led the project for Network Rail to become White Ribbon Accredited in 2020, embedding the action plan within the organisation and reaching out to the wider industry to make a bigger impact. Now a trustee of White Ribbon UK, Lydia continues to work closely with the charity to change the story for women and girls everywhere.
