Who are we?
We are a community of like-minded people studying, working or interested in technology. Our goal is to run events in which we can share our knowledge and interests as well as encourage and empower one another. This event is not exclusive to women; we welcome anyone passionate about tech and increasing diversity in the field.
We also welcome all students who are interested in learning more about Tech, and the careers it entails.

We'll be talking all about Changing and Translating Tech with talks from Cat Connolly and Pritpal Rehal!
Cat works as a marketing professional supporting the residents of York Science Park. During the last five years she has worked with a wide range of companies and individuals working in the creative, tech and scientific sectors. A large part of her job has been helping them translate what they do in ways that everyone can understand. Twitter @cconnolly
Pritpaul has previously worked in IT / Academia institutions as End user computing architecture. Responsible for developing ”smart IT” based solutions for York University using various h/w &s/w technologies. Twitter @pritpalrehal

18:40: It isn't magic, translating tech wizard to muggle - Cat Connolly
Sometimes it feels like tech teams and 'non tech teams' might be talking a different language - but worry not, this isn't a problem just limited to tech, pretty much every team can feel this way at some point. Cat will be looking at what problems you can encounter when trying to bridge this gap, how it can impact on your working life, and a few tips on how to help you all speak the same language.

19:50: Changing the desktop to mobile - Pritpal Rehal
Pritpal will look at the traditional PC desktop as it is today, how it has evolved and what it will be like in the future. He'll also discuss how users have changed and become more mobile, via remote working, and the impact this has had on organisations, covering how they are adapting and delivering this change to improve cost, security, productivity and staff well being. Pritpal will also discuss various technologies such as VDI, cloud apps and their growing demand as well as how the use of Chromebooks has changed the landscape.

We try to make our events comfortable for everyone. This event will have:
- Low volume music during registration and buffet
- Low level lighting during talks, mid-level lighting during registration and buffet
- Revolution's website states the venue has disabled access to the first floor via a lift - please contact Revolution directly if you have any questions
