Changing Lives Through STEM Workshop 3: Internationalisation & Industry
Tue 18 April 2017, 10:00 – 16:00 BST
This is the third in a series of Changing Lives through STEM workshops, funded by Scottish Universities Insight Institute and organised by teams at the Universities of Edinburgh, Strathclyde, St Andrews and Dundee. Our aim is to bring university researchers and public engagers together with people working in the charity, education, industrial, social and government sectors, to build new partnerships that can help us enhance the wider public’s engagement with the latest science and engineering research. After successful workshops looking at early years’ engagement and addressing social challenges, this third event has a twin focus on internationalisation and industry: how might engagement with the latest science and engineering have benefits on international scales and for industry.
The event will feature a keynote talk from Sarah Hayes, Education and Outreach Officer for the Synthesis and Solid State Pharmaceutical Centre based at the University of Limerick, Ireland.
The workshop will be highly interactive, aimed at catalysing new discussions and partnerships which can move forward with activities that will make a real difference to the lives of children, parents, researchers and teachers.
The workshop will take place at the University of Edinburgh (Kings Buildings campus) on Tuesday April 18th, 10am – 4pm.
Some feedback comments from the first workshop in the series: ‘a very positive experience full of great ideas and discussions’, ‘great cross-discipline collaboration opportunities’, ‘really good to share ideas’.
