About this event

  • Event lasts 1 day 3 hours

An Alcohol Change UK online learning event

Over two mornings 12 and 13 November 2025

All too often in the world of health promotion, we imagine that generic information and support will do the trick. One of the largest groups of people that these generic approaches let down is women.

At our next online learning event, this November, we’ll be getting to grips with the alcohol issues that women encounter through their life course, and thinking hard about how we can make sure that the information and support they receive is tailored, relevant and accessible.

You’ll hear from a host of experienced researchers and practitioners, including:

  • Kate Maslin, on women’s thoughts and feelings about using alcohol-free and low-alcohol drinks whilst pregnant
  • Abi Rose, on her work with women to co-produce alcohol harm reduction approaches during pregnancy
  • Amanda Atkinson and Beth Meadows, talking about women who chose their own paths to abstinence, often outside of traditional models
  • Emma Davies, on ways to support women to reduce alcohol intake in midlife
  • Zoe Hubbard, discussing her work to improve menopause support in alcohol treatment services in Aberdeen
  • And more…

Most importantly, we’ll be hearing voices of lived experience. Chelsey Flood will be talking about drinking to feel normal and how she used alcohol to mask undiagnosed autism; and Kate Rowe-Ham will describe her experiences of alcohol and menopause.
