Chapters & Crafts is a space where everyone is welcome to unplug from the digital world, work with their hands, connect with others, and enjoy meaningful conversation.
In this session, we’re exploring some timeless questions:
• Why do humans everywhere seem to have a sense of right and wrong?
• Does our moral compass reveal anything about who we are or why we’re here?
• Is morality shaped entirely by culture, or does it point to something deeper?
To guide our discussion, we’ll be drawing from the first five chapters of C.S. Lewis’s Mere Christianity, where he examines “Right and Wrong as a Clue to the Meaning of the Universe.” You don’t need to have read the book as we’ll share key excerpts to get us thinking (but it sure does help).
We recognise that the title Mere Christianity may feel alienating to some. At Chapters & Crafts, our aim is to revive the art of conversation; that means intentionally welcoming people from all walks of life and worldviews: atheists, agnostics, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, and anyone else with a different perspective on the topic. You’re equally welcome if you simply wish to listen in.
About the crafts:
We encourage you to bring along your own project, whether it’s a Lego set you’re building or a scarf you’re knitting. If you don’t have a project, we’ll have materials and tools on hand so you can dive into something new.
We look forward to speaking and listening.
Tea, coffee, and cake provided.
