Charcoal Making & Sketching

Join us for a creative morning down in the woods at Potteric Carr, and learn how to transform natural sticks into charcoal over an open fire and make charcoal sketches.

Embrace your wild side - what to expect:

This event takes place outdoors, so be prepared to be outside in all weathers. If, however, the weather is extremely windy or heavy rain, there is a possibilty the event will be cancelled.

Where to meet

Please meet us in the discovery zone woodlands, which are a 10-15 minute walk from the visitor centre and car park.

What to bring/wear

Our events mostly take place outside so brace yourself for the Yorkshire weather! We'd recommend sturdy and waterproof footwear or wellies, and lots of layers! If it's a hot day, remember a hat and suncream!

Insect repellent is highly recommended during the months of May-Sept.

Toilets and catering

Toilets available in the visitor centre only. The cafe will be open until 4pm and serving hot food until 3pm.

Joining us on the day

Please sign in at the visitor centre then make your way to the Discovey Zone woodlands. Its a 10-15 minute walk to the location.
