Charity Chit Chat Scotland brought to you by Along Came Kirsty CIC and Glen...
Thu 8 June 2017, 09:30 – 12:30 BST
Join us for some Charity Chit Chat on Thursday the 8th of June 2017 at the Circle Dundee.
We have a Data Protection themed event for you. Find out about your obligations and how to comply, including protecting personal information and providing access to official information.
We are delighted that the ICO will be attending to run a comprehensive workshop which will cover the following:
The Data Protection Act (DPA) and how this relates to charities e.g. what is personal data, what is sensitive personal data, a charity’s responsibilities under the Act. It will also cover the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and will cover what the ICO can accurately advise on about preparing for the GDPR and the changes to the requirements for consent and privacy notices.
We are also delighted to welcome Kate Wyatt, a Partner at Lindsays Solictors, to speak at this event. http://www.lindsays.co.uk/our-people/kate-wyatt
Kate is an expert in Employment Law and HR. She will be coming along to continue the theme of data protection but with regards to employment law. The session will cover the basics of DPA and how this relates to charities e.g. what is personal data, what is sensitive personal data, a charity’s responsibilities under the Act. It will also cover GDPR and we will cover what we can accurately advise on about preparing for the GDPR and the changes to the requirements for consent and privacy notices. I’m assuming that your group will be particularly interested in these areas and I will likely spend quite a bit of time on this however if you feel a focus on another area would be more beneficial please let me know as we can tailor our engagement to meet your specific needs.
If you would like to ensure that you are handling data correctly and in line with current legislation please sign up to this session.
Charity Chit Chat is for you if you work for a charity, social enterprise or perhaps a community group. Come together with others working in this sector for useful information and networking.
