We invite you to the Birmingham Charity Meetup networking and skills sharing event.

Our theme this time is ‘Inspiring Creativity’ and the event will be suitable for everyone working in the sector, with key takeaways aimed specifically at fundraisers.

Steve Woods – Unlocking your creativity

As Hypnotist and Director at Experiential Hypnosis Ltd, Steve has helped groups and individuals bring about life changes for over 14 years.

In this session, Steve will be teaching you how to relax your mind to unleash your imagination and get ideas flowing.

Sarah Bowron - Fundraising in the current climate

Sarah is an experienced charity leader who will be drawing on her knowledge of creative fundraising that has been upscaled in the current landscape. She will tell us about the recent campaigns which have caught her eye, as well as some ideas which have not been adopted and the reasons for this. Sarah will also be giving her top tips for overcoming the current fundraising challenges.

Rachel Beer - Creativity with purpose

Rachel is a fundraising, marketing and communications consultant, practitioner and trainer, who specialises in helping charities to scale their sustainable income, grow their reach and achieve more impact.

Rachel will be teaching us how to create fundraising appeals, products and campaigns that work. Take away tips and tools that will help you to lay the right foundations, decide which ideas to take forward and which to drop, minimise your risk and maximise your opportunities.

Your Hosts

Vicky Kangurs

Based in Birmingham, Vicky’s business is called Tabby Tiger. She is self-employed and offers marketing services to small businesses and sole traders. Her passions are savvy social media, copywriting with clout, comms with clarity and measured marketing.

Before going it alone, Vicky worked for a large charity in a role which covered several elements; internal and external comms, sponsorship, marketing, events management, PR and press officer duties.

Vicky has several clients across a number of sectors and loves the variety and challenge that brings. She also leads on the Midlands arm of CharityComms, organising regional events and helping to build membership. Vicky loves working with charities as she finds it worthwhile and rewarding. Claire Colvine

Claire is a communications consultant with over 15 years experience in the non-profit sector. She founded Colvine Communications in 2016 to help more charities, social enterprises and organisations with purpose to get the most out of their comms. About this network

The Charity Meetup successful series events in London and Buckinghamshire have been running since 2015. We have had over 22 events. The meetups are for charities, volunteers, changemakers and supporters of the sector, to make new connections, share skills and develop collaborations. What is it?

The Charity Meetup event was designed to make it easy and enjoyable for people working in the not for profit sector to make new connections. The networking is facilitated by the organiser Dawn Newton and participants are supported and encouraged through activities and games.

A relaxed, informal event with chatting, networking and fun. Everyone is welcome. Participants can arrive or leave at any point during the event.

Who will you meet at the Charity Meetup?

A diverse network of connections is essential for both people and organisations in the non-profit sector. The purpose of the Charity Meetup is to help foster and grow these connections. The event has a good mix of participants including people from different parts of the charity sector including fundraisers, marketers, companies, consultants, in-house staff, freelancers, agencies and we hope that this will continue with the future events.

The Charity Meetup is a friendly event full of skills sharing, networking and fun, and all are welcome. The event was created by Dawn Newton, after noticing that there were lots of events but nothing which supported participants to network in a practical way through facilitated activities.
