In November, I will be attempting to trek up 18,175 ft of the world's tallest mountain to reach Everest Base camp. This is a personal ambition, but I am also hoping to raise money for two charites, one is the Irish Cancer Society and the other is Friends of Londani. Both are very worthwhile charities, in 2006 l had the opportunity to see first hand how they have changed the lives of people in Kenya, when I spent four weeks volunteering in Kenya with friends of Londani. It was a life learning experience and I would love to be able to contribute to them again. I think most Irish people like myself have someone they know affected by cancer so that is why I choose The Irish Cancer Society as my other charity.
l am organizing a night in Whelan's on Saturday, 22nd October to raise as much money as l can for these two worthwhile charities.
There are two ways you contrivute to this very worthy cause. You can either donate money at the following link: https://www.facebook.com/KateDoesEverest/app/208195102528120/. Alternatively, we are putting on a wonderful night with some up-and-coming and established Irish acts . On the night, we are also having a raffle and an auction with some amazing prizes including concert, theatre, festival tickets and much more.
You can purchase your tickets for the event for €20 alonng with your raffle tickets, €10 for five raffle tickets or €20 for 15 raffle tickets. These can be paid for in advance here: https://www.facebook.com/KateDoesEverest/app/137541772984354/
I really hope you can support me, I know if everyone I've contacted makes the effort then it's guaranteed to be a great night, ye all like a good night out and it's a great way for us all to catch up again after the summer. Please spread the word too.
If you can't make it to the night, you can make a donation here, which would be greatly appreciated https://www.facebook.com/KateDoesEverest/app/208195102528120/
l will be updating this page during my hike, so you can see me actually go up there and experience some of the journey with me.
Thanks everyone for taking the time to read this and as I said spread the word!!
