On Friday, 30 September 2016, The Bristol Poetry Institute of the University of Bristol will stage TWO EVENTS in celebration of the life of the poet Charles Tomlinson, CBE. Both events are free and open to the public but SEPARATE BOOKING IS REQUIRED.
EVENT 1: REFLECTING ON CHARLES TOMLINSON: AN AFTERNOON OF TALKS
The first event, a series of talks reflecting on Charles Tomlinson, will run in the Reception Room of Wills Memorial Hall, from 13:30 until 18:00.
Speakers will include: Ian Brinton, David Hopkins, David Morley, Peter Robinson, Michael Schmidt, Julian Stannard, Richard Swigg and Lucy Tunstall.

EVENT 2: A CELEBRATORY READING OF CHARLES TOMLINSON'S POETRY
The second event, an evening of readings from Charles Tomlinson's poetry, will follow the afternoon session in the Reception Room of Wills Memorial Hall, from 18:30 until 20:00.
Speakers will include: David Morley, Peter Robinson, Michael Schmidt, Julian Stannard and Lucy Tunstall.

Charles Tomlinson, CBE, was an internationally acclaimed poet and translator, artist, and literary scholar. This event, staged at the University of Bristol, in whose English Department Charles taught for thirty-six years, seeks to clelebrate and think about different aspects of the large legacy of this hugely and varoiously talented man.
