🥾 ABOUT THE WALK 🥾

🏞 Bakewell to Chatsworth Country Park Adventure 🍰

Starting in the charming market town of Bakewell, this stunning route winds up peaceful woodland trails and across open pastures, leading us into the grandeur of Chatsworth Country Park and its magnificent stately home. Keep your eyes peeled – deer are often spotted grazing within the park!

We’ll follow lush river meadows along the Derwent Valley Heritage Trail, skirt the edges of Rowsley, and then climb to enjoy sweeping views of Stanton Moor and Darley Dale. After a couple of heart-pumping hills (worth every step for the incredible vistas and one very special surprise view), we’ll return to Bakewell via the scenic Monsal Trail.

Once back, you might fancy exploring Bakewell’s quaint streets or treating yourself to a famous Bakewell tart in one of its cosy cafés.

Parking: Several car parks are available in Bakewell. We’ll meet at Bakewell Bridge Car Park (£6 all day at the time of writing – ANPR, cash or card). Bakewell gets busy, so allow extra time to park, visit the toilets, and grab a pre-walk cuppa.

Refreshments: Bring a drink and packed lunch/snacks. We may stop briefly at Edensor Tea Cottage or Carlton Lees Garden Centre, but this isn’t guaranteed.

❓ ROUND-ROBIN QUESTION: What was the last film you saw at the cinema?

If this is your first AG walk, then please arrive nice and early and seek out the walk leader who will give you a warm welcome.
