Event description
The literature festival not to miss! We have an incredible line-up of authors and events at CHCC YA Fest celebrating young adult literature.

About this Event

Here at Chadwell Heath Community Centre and Robert Jeyes Library we love literature so much, young adult literature of all genres in particular, that we created CHCC YA Fest, a literature festival. A whole day full of bookish fun. Themed author panels; book signings; a scavenger hunt with prizes; a quiz with prizes; books for sale; bookish seller (candles); 1-2-1 literary agent meetings; and a few freebies thrown in; we have it all.

We have an incredible line-up again this year!

Authors announced so far:

Patrice Lawrence - Author of ORANGEBOY, Patrice's debut novel, shortlisted for the Costa Children's Prize and winner of the Waterstone's Prize for Older Fiction and the Bookseller YA Prize. Patrice's second book INDIGO DONUT was named Book of the Week in three national papers and ROSE, INTERRUPTED, Patrice's latest book, is no different having received much praise.

Katharine and Elizabeth Corr - Authors of the amazing 'The Witch's Kiss' series and new release A THRONE OF SWANS, a high fantasy loosely based on 'Swan Lake' about shape-shifting nobles, that is receiving rave reviews and currently sitting high on the Amazon bestseller charts, at number two. Katharine and Elizabeth will be on the 'Fantastical Worlds' panel.

Bex Hogan - Author of VIPER, book one in the 'Isles of Storm and Sorrow' series and upcoming sequel, April release, VENOM. An epic fantasy series set on the high seas. Yes please! VIPER was one of The Reading Agency's Top 10 Volunteer Reads of 2019 and received rave reviews.

Savita Kalhan - Author of THE GIRL IN THE BROKEN MIRROR and latest novel THAT ASIAN KID. The brilliant THAT ASIAN KID has been nominated for the prestigious CILIP Carnegie Medal 2020 award and has received wonderful reviews, one being from The Book Trust.

Danielle Jawando - Debut author of March release AND THE STARS WERE BURNING BRIGHTLY. A moving and important read, already receiving brilliant reviews; an impressive debut from Danielle.

Bethany Rutter - Author and editor, Bethany's YA debut NO BIG DEAL, a story of body positivity, friendship and first crushes, has received rave reviews. Bethany's second book MELT MY HEART publishes in July.

Chloe Seager - Author of the hilarious 'Emma Nash' series and recent release MY TYPE ON PAPER, Chloe is also a Children's and YA literary agent at the Madeleine Milburn Agency. Chloe will be holding 1-2-1 pitch meetings where you can pitch your manuscript. These will be eight minute time slots where you get the opportunity to shine your story in the best light. Some things to think about: Can you sum it up in a couple lines? What is it about? Which age group is it specifically written for? Which current authors would you compare your work to? There are specific tickets for this and there are only ten spaces available.

We would love to see you there!
