Event description
LNP's response to climate change emergency motions and how to influence the new land management programmes.

About this Event

Each year Cheshire and Warrington Local Nature Partnership hosts an annual review or conference to look at a range of current issues.

This year's event is at Chester Zoo on 16th October, starting at 9:30 am.

We have decided to use the platform of the annual seminar to respond to the Climate Emergency motions, passed by the Local Authorities earlier this year and look at the how the new Environmental Land Management scheme is evolving.

Over 90% of our region is green infrastructure and more than 60% is agricultural land. Any sustainable plan for a zero-carbon region will need a strong focus on how land use and land management can play a role in mitigating carbon emissions.

Our aim is to create an informed debate on key climate change issues and how we can build resilience into our communities and economic growth strategies. To this end, we have invited key speakers to shape the debate. We have confirmation from the Director General of the CLA, Sarah Hendry, who previously worked at DEFRA drafting the government’s 25-year Environment Plan. Sarah will be setting out the potential impact of the new ELMs and what that could mean for land management in the future, both nationally and for Cheshire.

We hope that you can join us for this important discussion.
