Overview
1 - Working on the following skills:
- Self regulation of one’s emotions & Staying Positive;
- Perfectionism management & Aiming High;
- Understanding social cues & Working online;
- And, improving one’s level in chess, of course.
2 - Club description:
This workshop Group 4 & 5 - Proficient 1 & 2 - is for players who have a very good understanding of chess tactics but who struggle with perfectionism; self doubt and anxiety in relation to doing well; self regulation when upset; social queues and best practice in terms of behaviour; as well as understanding when to let place for others.
In chess, they should always be thinking moves ahead and predicting potential moves from their opponent, leading them to preempting the protection of their own pieces in advance, as well as taking advantage of their opponent’s mistakes.

The sessions will comprise of a lesson part, solving chess puzzles and tournaments against one another.
We will also be working on the kids' ability to manage their emotions under stress; review their own errors and learning from them; and improve their social interactions with others online.
We will be discussing with you the young players' progress both in chess and skills development.
3 - Age range:
8 to 15 y.o. but the knowledge and interest in playing chess and the ability to work online are more important than age in this course.
4 - Ticket Price
This is a continuous course that starts in September and runs through the academic year based on five times per half term where fees will be charged per term for 10 sessions at a rate of £ 190.00 per term.

IMPORTANT NOTE
In order to best work with the individuals we limit spaces to minimum 4 and maximum 12 particpants per course.
Please book promptly to avoid being disappointed either as there are no more spaces remaining or due to the course being postponed by a term.
5 - Workshop Dates
The Group 4 & 5 Chess Club will take place weekly on Mondays, from 17:00 to 18:00.
This registration covers the sessions from:

- Monday 23rd February to Monday 23rd March 2026 included.
