Course Outline;
Opportunity to learn about a structured assessment of chest pain. Looking at primarily Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) but also other differentials such as myopericarditis, dissection.
Attendees should have a thorough understanding of ECG interpretation
Aims/Outcomes;
- Comprehensively develop knowledge in the assessment of chest pain. Ensuring understanding of how life threatening causes can present.
- Understand treatment pathways for different pathologies especially ACS patients
Content;
• This day involves, group work, case studies and advanced ECG interpretation
• Different mnemonics for chest pain assessment
• Explore the differentials of chest pain.
• Investigations and treatment including ECG findings of non ACS pathology e.g. Pulmonary embolism, Aortic dissection, Pericardial effusion/Tamponade
• Acute coronary syndrome
• Pathophysiology
• Diagnosis
• Risk stratification and management
• Angina management and treatment
• STEMI and high risk ACS ECG interpretation
• STEMI ECG mimics
• Complications of ACS, clinical signs on examination and symptoms
