Frequently asked questions

Where should I park?

Parking is available at Linenhall Street car park for £3, just across the street from Radiate Arts.

Do you supply materials?

Yes! We have easels with drawing boards, paper, pastels, and charcoal to use, but feel free to bring your favourite media to work with too! We can use wet or dry media (no oils though - white spirit is a ventilation issue). iPads are a-ok, just cover your camera during the session :)

Do I have to be a pro-artist to join in?

Absolutely not! You can come along with loads of experience or never having drawn before. It's all about listening to good tunes, doing something with your hands, and not look at a screen for two hours. Feel free to just drop in for one to try it out, you don't have to be a regular!

How old do I need to be to join?

We welcome artists of ALL ages to be part of our creative community here at Chester Life Drawing. If you're younger than 16 but serious about developing a life drawing practice, you just need to be accompanied by an adult for the first time at least :)

What are your sessions like?

Chester Life Drawing runs relaxed, semi-taught sessions with professional models and timed poses. Expect a fun, friendly atmosphere with other artists eager to create! It's a fantastic chance to meet fellow art enthusiasts and dive into the wonderful world of life drawing. Also, GREAT tunes!!

Can I suggest poses?

Of course! If there's a particular pose you'd like some practice drawing, feel free to bring along some reference and suggest it in the session. Our friendly models are always happy to try their best to accommodate!

Can I take photos?

No paparazzi here! To respect our model's privacy, we have a "no photography" policy during life drawing. But once you've got your masterpieces, snap away and share the love! If you're posting your artwork online, be sure to tag our Instagram and Facebook pages - we love seeing what you've made :D
