Cory Doctorow is a science fiction author, activist, journalist, blogger, the co-editor of Boing Boing and the author of many book, most recently IN REAL LIFE, a graphic novel; INFORMATION DOESN'T WANT TO BE FREE, a book about earning a living in the Internet age, and HOMELAND, the award-winning, best-selling sequel to the 2008 YA novel LITTLE BROTHER.
Chew The Fat is back again, with another incredible guest: Cory Doctorow!
For those of you who have somehow managed to avoid Cory whilst living on the internet, you need to stop treating the internet like TV.
Cory is an author, activist, blogger, editor and passionate advocate for "internet culture", he's so well regarded that XKCD even feature him as a character who lives above the clouds, like some sort of Blogging God.
He is an activist in favour of liberalising copyright laws and a proponent of the Creative Commons organization, using some of their licenses for his books. Some common themes of his work include digital rights management, file sharing, and post-scarcity economics
He's also the editor of the hugely successful boing boing, which should be your daily read.
Benjamin Southworth will be chewing the fat with questions like:
- Why do we need to support organisations such as EFF?
- How has filesharing impacted culture?
- What's next for the Internet and our culture?
We'll also be talking about Snowdon, Aaron Shwartz, Cyber Crime, Comic Books, emoji's and of course his latest book.
