Event Details

Eligibility

This is a half day course for people working with children and young people in West Sussex.

This course is being delivered through a partnership between Coastal West Sussex Mind, Change, Grow Live and West Sussex County Council.

Aims

This Mental ill-health and substance misuse in young people under the age of 18 course will cover: 

     Definitions, attitudes & the young person’s experience

     Identifying mental ill-health and substance misuse - ‘Signs and symptoms’?

     Identifying and responding more effectively to young people experiencing both mental    health and substance use issues

     Being aware of support pathways and key service providers in the county

 

Getting to the Venue

The nearest train station is Chichester rail station which is a 10 minute walk to New Park Centre. There is some free on-site car parking which is first come first service basis and not able to be reserved. There are also four disabled car parking spaces in site. Next to New Park is a large public car park with pay and display. 

Timings and breaks

The course runs from 1:30pm - 4:30pm. There will be one refreshment break.

Refreshments

Tea and coffee will be provided.

Registration fee

Your £10 registration fee for this course helps towards the additional venue and refreshment costs. This is a non-refundable fee.

 Cancellations

Please notify us ASAP if you are unable to attend the course. As this is a funded programme our aim is to ensure all available places are taken up. Early notification may mean we can offer this space to someone on our waiting list.

Our services support young people, adults, older adults, carers and families affected by mental health problems. We offer help and advice to people around improving their physical and mental well-being, strengthening their self-esteem and confidence, building strong relationships with family, friends and communities, getting into education, training and work and achieving their personal and social goals.

We also work actively in local communities to raise awareness about mental health and tackle the stigma and discrimination.
