About this Event

Gweithdy: Adolygiadau Ymarfer Plant yng Nghymru

Yn y gweithdy hwn, rydym yn trafod canfyddiadau o ddadansoddiad ansoddol ac aml-ddisgyblaethol o 20 o Adolygiadau Ymarfer Plant yng Nghymru (roedd y rhain yn arfer cael eu galw’n Adolygiadau Achosion Difrifol). Dadansoddwyd yr adolygiadau o dri safbwynt gwahanol: y gyfraith, troseddeg ac ymarfer (gwaith cymdeithasol). Mae’r papur yn nodi’r themâu trawsbynciol canlynol: (i) hierarchaeth gwybodaeth, lle mae rhai ffynonellau gwybodaeth yn cael eu blaenoriaethu dros rai eraill (ii) rhannu/cofnodi gwybodaeth, lle gwelwyd diffygion o ran rhannu neu gofnodi gwybodaeth (iii) asesiad rhannol, pan nad oedd rhai asesiadau’n gyfannol, ac yn olaf (iv) llais y plentyn, pan nad oedd profiad neu safbwynt y plentyn yn cael ei ystyried bob amser. Hon oedd yr astudiaeth gyntaf i ystyried themâu oedd yn deillio o Adolygiadau Ymarfer Plant (yng Nghymru) ac mae hefyd yr un gyntaf i gael ei chynnal o safbwynt aml-ddisgyblaethol. Bydd y gweithdy yn canolbwyntio ar y goblygiadau o ran ymarfer a pholisi.

Workshop: Child Practice Reviews in Wales

In this workshop, we report findings from a qualitative, multi-disciplinary analysis of 20 Child Practice Reviews (CPRs) (previously Serious Case Review) in Wales. The reviews were analysed from three different disciplinary perspectives: law, criminology and practice (social work). The paper identifies the following cross-cutting themes: (i) hierarchy of knowledge, where certain sources of knowledge were privileged over others (ii) information sharing/recording, where deficiencies of sharing or recording of information were evident (iii) partial assessment, where certain assessments were not always holistic, and lastly, (iv) voice of the child, where the experience or perspective of the child was not always considered. This is the first study to explore themes emerging from (Welsh) CPRs and is also the first to do so from a multi-disciplinary perspective. The workshop will focus on implications for practice and policy.
