This is an opportuntiy for everyone that works or volunteers with children within a community or voluntary organisation to attend up to date child protection training.

Is your organistion an after school club, a holiday club or a weekend group? Are you a sporting group or do you run religious classes? Do you run classes for children outside of the school day? If the answer is YES to any of these then you will need to be trained in Child Protection.

This training is a chance to refresh and update skills and knowledge in all things related to safeguarding and child protection.

It is being funded by South Gloucestershire safeguarding partners so the session is FREE for you to attend.

The course is 3 hours long and will equip you with knowledge and understanding of what child protection and safeguarding is, what the signs of abuse are, what legislation is covering you, about digital safeguarding and how to promote a safe environment for your children.

The session will be run on Zoom.

The course is being hosted by Sue Wheeler who has been commissioned by South Gloucestershire Safeguarding Children Board to deliver this training. They have approved this course.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS ONLY FOR PEOPLE OR ORGANISATIONS RUNNING OR WORKING WITHIN A COMMUNITY, VOLUNTARY, SPORTS OR RELGIOUS SETTING, WITHIN THE SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE LOCAL AUTHORITY.

Sue is a qualified teacher and nursery nurse.  She has been working with children and young people throughout the whole of her professional career.  She started her teaching career in 1998 after qualifying from King Alfred's University.

She has not only spent her career working in different schools, colleges and nurseries within West Sussex, Spain and Bath but also spent 2 years at Barnardo's in Bristol.  Sue now runs her own consultancy business, training and consulting on Safeguarding and Child Protection.

Sue is passionate about safeguarding and specialised in teaching this at Bath College for 9 years to Early Years Practitioners.  This passion in safeguarding led Sue to work for Barnardo's for 2 years where she delivered training to the night time economy both within Bristol and throughout South Gloucestershire.

Sue empowered this workforce to spot the signs of child sexual exploitation and to voice any concerns they may have.

Sue believes that training should not just be a way to gain new skills and knowledge but it should also be a valuable opportunity to meet and interact with other people; building relationships, sharing good practise and supporting each other through what can be a challenging time.
