Description

Our Focus

In March 2018 DFID held a Safeguarding Summit to improve Safeguarding across the international development Sector, NGOs, DFID, the Charity Commission and safeguarding experts pledged to improve safeguarding standards across the sector. A standard identified from the summit is demonstrating accountability to beneficiaries and survivors.

ChildHope’s strategic framework outlines our commitment to ensure ‘every child has the right to a safe and secure childhood’. Our new series of seminars picks up on this theme by providing space for organisations to share best practice, discuss challenges and explore innovative approaches for demonstrating accountability when protecting children and young people.

Seminar Structure

12:30– 1:30pm: Presentation

We will discuss the safeguarding role and responsibilities of charity trustees, examining the framework for effectively reporting issues to the regulator and other authorities. We will update delegates on action the Commission has recently taken to ensure adequate safeguarding measures across the sector, including guidance, tips and advice to trustees for effectively managing safeguarding issues in their charities.

1:30– 14:00pm: Lunch

14:00– 15:30pm: Facilitated Discussion

Seminar dates

Thursday 28th February 2019 - from the Charity Commission Perspective - Daniel Kington, from the Charity Commission
