The Federation of Small Businesses is working with South Yorkshire Police on a project to help raise awareness of child sexual exploitation and encourage businesses to play a role in reporting concerns. The project has been co-ordinated by police alongside the local authority and the National Working Group Network, which is a charity organisation formed to share best practice between agencies tackling child sexual exploitation.
As part of the project, an awareness package and a code of conduct has been put together for the FSB to distribute to businesses. The awareness package and code of conduct encourages businesses to train staff to understand how to raise concerns about child sexual exploitation, protecting vulnerable employees and putting safeguards in place at work. It will be aimed at businesses in the hospitality, retail, transport, and leisure trades to help staff identify vulnerable people and to report concerns to the police and other relevant agencies.
