Description

This workshop supersedes 'In Safe Hands 1 & 2'. It will give those with the responsibility for the welfare and protection of children in their club or organisation the knowledge and skill to manage any concern.

Suitable for: Child Wellbeing and Protection Officers or similar role who are aged 18+ yrs.

Prerequisites: Learners must have complete both modules of the Child Wellbeing & Protecting Children (CWPO) or SPC.

Workshop aims:

  • To provide participants with the opportunity to further develop skills in fulfilling their role as Child Protection Officer
  • To provide the opportunity for Child Protection Officers to explore, in more detail, the type of well being and protection concerns that may arise for children and young people within, or outwith, the SGB, club environment and how to respond effectively
  • To help SGB/clubs implement practices and procedures to keep children and young people safe.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the workshop participants will be able to:

  • Describe how to better assess the suitability of an individual to work with children and young people
  • Respond effectively to well-being and safeguarding concerns that may arise within or out with the club
  • Describe the basic elements of an effective disciplinary process
  • Describe the criteria for making a PVG referral to Disclosure Scotland
