Childcare Works National Progress Sharing (PS) Meeting
Event Information
Description
We are pleased to invite up to two representatives per local authority to the Childcare Works National Progress Sharing (PS) Meeting on Tuesday 20th March 2018. It is ideal for local authority 30 hours leads, senior managers, or people in other sector leadership roles.
The meeting is a valuable and essential part of the Childcare Works programme. It complements the regional PS Meetings by offering ideas, resources and advice from all local authorities across the country, and national speakers including DfE ministers. New for this year are Q&A interview type break-out sessions during the morning and afternoon as well as Childcare Works Awards.
This agenda is subject to change pending ministerial availability.

11.30 Choose from six break-out sessions - round one
All break-out sessions will be structured around a short semi-structured interview with subject specialists, with Q&A and facilitated discussions. A PowerPoint free zone!
- Break-out 1 - A sufficiency assessment for London, findings, trends, and implications for other urban areas. An opportunity to hear about research from the Family and Childcare Trust and consider what it means for all of us managing sufficiency in other local areas including cities and small towns.
- Break-out 2 - The evaluation of 30 hours - listening to learning, planning ahead. An opportunity to discuss the findings and evaluation outcomes presented by Frontier Economics earlier today. Meet with the researchers and debate the evaluation's implications for present and future 30 hours delivery.
- Break-out 3 - The 30 hours jigsaw piece, in the wider DfE and other Government policy picture. Ponder how 30 hours connects with other agendas, and identify how these connections present opportunities for early years and childcare at a local strategy level.
- Break-out 4 - Moving on up. Social mobility, early learning, disadvantage, and supporting families out of poverty and into employment. Discussing the DfE's plan for improving social mobility within its current context.
- Break-out 5 - 30 hours for all - making it work for children with SEND. Consider what has been done so far to ensure children with SEND have equal access to their 30 hours and wider entitlements. What has been achieved to date, and what can be done further to support children, families and providers?
- Break-out 6 - Where next for 30 hours delivery strategy? A discussion around what local authority leaders have learned to date, and how this could shape our delivery of 30 hours, early years, and childcare in the future.
