Event description

Description

Are you interested in the physiological impact of toxic stress and adversity in childhood, such as poverty, and its associated risk of poor health, imprisonment and early death? If so, then this event is highly relevant for you! A screening of a recent film ‘Resilience: The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope’ http://kpjrfilms.co/resilience/about-the-film/, followed by a discussion on childhood adversity and resilience, is being held at Lecture Theatre C, David Hume Tower, on Tuesday 12th December at 5:15pm. The film will be followed by a discussion session with guest speakers from the fields of Educational Psychology and Social work, who have experience of working with children with adversity. This event is primarily open to MSc students in HiSS (School of Health in Social Science) but will also be open to other students and staff.
