Demystifying assessment, diagnosis and treatment options for children and young people with CASIn this session, Lorraine aims to support parents to understand the process of SLT assessment, diagnosis and therapy for Childhood Apraxia of Speech. She will explain jargon terms, explain the different assessment tools and summarise evidence based interventions such as Nuffield, DTTC and ReST. This session will also include a Q+A - ask the questions you have always wanted to ask your SLT.

Libby talks about being the mother to a child with childhood apraxia of speech. She talks about how Joshua did not follow the normal pathway for speech progression which led her to question 'Why'. Liz talks about how she bravely pushed for a diagnosis for the the speech disorder on the NHS and secured an adapted speech assessment which resulted in a diagnosis of Childhood Apraxia of Speech.
