Course Introduction
Our Childhood Immunisation training has been developed in line with Public Health England (PHE) standards and requirements to provide delegates with a comprehensive understanding of the most current and up to date information regarding Childhood Immunisation. In addition to a range of immunisations, we will also cover injection technique and provide the opportunity to review your current practice, identifying areas for improvement. This course will be interactive and involves workshops.
Our Childhood Immunisation Training is accredited by One Awards and you will receive CPD points on completion.
Course Aims
- To understand the role and importance of immunisation and vaccination
- To be able to explain the aims of immunisation, describe national policy and schedules and deal with variations to the schedule
- To understand the legal framework of immunisation
- To understand the legal aspects of supply and administration of vaccines

- Childhood Vaccination Schedule Review
- Childhood immunisation update – including Influenza, Pneumococcal, MMR, Pertussis, Dip, Tet,BCG, Polio, HIB, Meningitis and HPV
- TB - including screening and Mantoux
- Travel Health and vaccinations update - including HEP A, HEP B, Yellow Fever, Malaria and Typhoid
- Live and inactive vaccines
- Anaphylaxis recognition and management
- Adverse reactions and reporting
- Prescribing including PGDs and PSDs
- Administration
- Cold chain
- Injection techniques
- Documentation, record keeping and reporting
- Legal framework - confidentiality and consent
- Mental Capacity Act
