Childminder Training

1. Creating an outstanding (indoors and out) early years environment in your home

2. Supporting the Behaviour and Social Emotional Needs of children birth to 5.

3. Maths in the Early Years

6. Planning, Documenting and Next Steps

Six one hour sessions- £30 per attendee

Tea, coffee and cake provided.

Certificate of CPD attended will be provided at the end of each session for your own professional records.

1. Creating an outstanding (indoors and out) early years environment in your home

7th Feb

  • Environment audit for inside and out
  • Developing provision to meet the needs of vulnerable 2 year olds.
  • How to create an environment rich in learning opportunities for free.
  • Outstanding provision in the home will be shared.
  • Looking at how the outdoor environment can be used all year round to inspire high quality learning.

2. Supporting the Behaviour and Social Emotional Needs of children birth to 5.

14th March

  • Focus on child development and key milestones
  • Sharing the Early Years Developmental Journal to assess needs and plan next steps.
  • Useful and successful strategies to use in managing challenging behaviour.
  • How to write individual plans and set achievable targets.

3. Maths in the Early Years

2nd May

  • A look at how maths skills develop from birth to five.
  • Practical activities and planning for each skill.
  • Creating a home environment rich in mathematical opportunities.
  • Developing children’s mathematical graphics and reasoning
  • Maths outdoors

4. Developing the love for Reading in the Foundation Stage

6th June

  • A look at key skills in reading
  • How to create exciting learning opportunities to engage learners.
  • Making Phonics fun
  • A review of some of the latest books to hook learners in.

5. Writing in the Early Years

3rd October

  • Mark maker to writing skills progression.
  • How adults can support writing skills at each stage.
  • Developing a hook for writing.
  • Audit to help evaluate your home environment and ensure writing opportunities are available.

6. Planning, Documenting and Next Steps

7thNov

  • A look at a successful planning and assessment cycle in the EYFS.
  • Planning for the needs of the child and linking it to assessment.
  • Child initiated learning
  • Sharing ideas of recording learning through online apps, paper learning journals and displays.
  • Setting achievable next steps.
