This is a half-day (morning) course for parent/carers of children and teenagers with additional needs, who are experiencing difficulties with their child/teen's sleep.
The course is open to parent/carers living in Wokingham, Reading and West Berkshire council areas. The maximum number of course attendees is 6 to allow more time for our Sleep Practitioners to focus on the needs of your family.
Content of the course:
- Understand the importance of sleep for the whole family's health and wellbeing.
- Understand the reasons behind sleep difficulties and why they are more common in children and teenagers with additional needs.
- Learn new parenting strategies for settling your child to sleep, and staying asleep. And new strategies for encouraging your teenagers to sleep well.
- 1:1 time with a Specialist Sleep Practitioner to write a Sleep Plan for your family.
The course will be delivered by the LD specialist Sleep Practitioner from Parenting Special Children. In addition to Southampton NHS Specialist Sleep training, she has a professional backgrounds in Learning Disability Nursing.
The Sleep course will be delivered at the Earley Crescent Resource Centre, Warbler Drive, Reading. RG6 4HB.
There is no charge for this course.
