Event description
Do you work in the children's health & wellbeing sector? Then join us for Feeling Good - an event designed to share ideas and good practice.

About this event

Our theme of Feeling Good has been chosen to raise awareness and promote the importance of good emotional health and wellbeing for children and young people. The conference will reflect on current research and theory whilst looking at best practice and the rights of children and young people with regards to emotional health and wellbeing. It will provide the perfect opportunity for delegates to share ideas, listen to examples of good practice and look at resources to take away to use in your workplace.

It is acknowledged that the health and wellbeing of children and young people is a key driver to a positive life. The Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014, which includes key parts of the Getting it Right for Every Child approach ( GIRFEC), defines child wellbeing in terms of eight wellbeing indicators: Safe, Healthy, Active, Nurtured, Achieving, Respected, Responsible and Included. This recognises that children's health and wellbeing is multi-faceted and that it is important to measure it across all the domains relevant to a child's life.

The morning session of the conference will include a Keynote Speech by Maree Todd MSP, Minister for Children and Young People and a Guest Presentation about Feeling Good in relation to children and young people’s health and wellbeing by Dr William Bird MBE, CEO of Intelligent Health.

In both the morning and afternoon delegate are able to choose from a range of morning workshops designed to share ideas of what is working in practice whilst encouraging a deeper understanding of what it takes to feel good. These workshops are as follows:

The afternoon will include a panel discussion on celebrating successes to overcoming the challenges to children and young people’s health and emotional wellbeing. It will conclude with the presentation of the Scottish Children's Health Awards.
