Tutor: Elaine Baker
Join us to learn the satisfying technique of using a pen and ink to create your own detailed nature-inspired designs on glazed china. Capture the delicate beauty of butterflies in your images. Previous participants of Elaine's course said:

With no more than ten participants, you'll pick up practical tips and get one-to-one support. This absorbing workshop is suitable for both beginners, and more experienced artists, and is aimed at adults and ages 16 upwards.
Elaine will bring along images and examples of her own butterfly, or moth, and plant illustrations to inspire you, as well as greenery collected from the local area. You’re welcome to bring your own images and foliage along too.
You can either create a design on one mug and a coaster, or create a set of four coasters. There will be time to practice and refine your designs and all items will be kiln fired after the workshop, to make designs permanent. You'll be able to collect your pieces from the Discovery Centre a week later (please note, postage will not be possible).
Sussex-based artist Elaine has more than 30 years of experience as a porcelain painter. Much of her inspiration comes from nature, particularly insects, see her Instagram page.
