Event description

Description

Are you interested in the development of the Chinese economy under President Xi? Do you want to know more about the economic opportunities and challenges China might face in the future? Do you want to hear experts from both academia and financial institutions talk about their ideas and opinions? Then you shall not miss this event!

CDS is launching their second Bridging Minds Symposium this term: China under Xi: Opportunities and Challenges Facing the Chinese Economy. With a focus on two crucial economic issues in China:

1. Growing Inequality

The speedy growth of the Chinese economy also entails increasing levels of inequality, bringing about economic and social problems. How will the government tackle these problems? How should they change current policies? Will increasing inequality eventually cause growth to stagnate or even decline before solutions have been found?

2. Tightening Capital Controls

With a focus especially on trade and foreign investment regulations, its impact on the domestic economy as well as on the trade relationship with other countries. With Capital Control regulations tightening their grip on outbound deals, will these changes choke global assets and slow real estate, but improve the country's economic health? Has capital control hampered the yuan internationalization? Will trade with China go down as a result of these regulations?

You will hear this and much more at our Symposium. So be prepared to enjoy an intellectually stimulating evening, where you will be introduced to new perspectives, can contribute with your unique insights as well as ask any questions you have always wanted an expert to answer. Quickly book your tickets!
