About the Event
Chinese Astrology was first introduced in 2637 BC by the Emperor Huang Ti when he introduced the Chinese calendar. Similar to the Zodiac, it is based on twelve signs but these are animals, one for each lunar year, and on the five elements which change with each 12-year cycle. In this fascinating system, you will learn how both the animals and the elements illuminate traits of our true nature and why some of our relationships are more successful than others.
Our course, Chinese Astrology and You, is three weeks long. In Week One, we will learn the 12 Animal Signs and our Families of Affinity. This extensive knowledge affirms who we are in ourselves and in our relationships with others. In Week Two, we will see the influence of the signs for the hour of our birth and how the five elements add more dimension to our animal sign. These things add definition to the type of our Animal Sign. In Week Three, we will look at the importance of the year ahead for each of us, the Year of the Fire Horse. This information prepares us for possible difficulties and challenges, especially if the Year is of our own personal sign.
Throughout the course we will be gathering information which we can do from internet sources ahead of time or from a small book which I will recommend we use. The cost would be under £10 and I will give more information, once people have signed up. Activities, games and discussions will make our learning more enjoyable.

About the Facilitator:
Gail Burton is an educator with an M.Ed. (OU) in Leadership and Management. She also is an experienced facilitator, having done more than 12,000 workshops, especially in the careers advice area in Canada. At present, she is enjoying running her business, Bridges Unlimited, so she can offer a range of Voyages to Self-Discovery courses, coaching and talks. These are designed to help people find out who they are and how to have a life they truly enjoy.
“I have been using Chinese Astrology in my life for over 30 years and love to share its usefulness with others. It was handed down to me by my brother who was taught by his Chinese T’ai Chi leacher. Although I am a Westerner, I find the wisdom of Chinese Astrology invaluable as each Lunar New Year approaches. The next sign foretells possibilities of the year ahead, whether it will be plentiful or problematic. Every January I prepare by consulting the wisdom in the forecast, then happily share this with people in my home and work life. It brings me joy to share this with as many people as possible.”

- Concession Tier 1
This tier is for those who are students on a low income, carers, or single parents. It is also for people who are unemployed or underemployed, navigating financial hardship, or facing systemic barriers. If you rarely spend on extras or feel stressed about meeting basic needs, this tier exists so that you can still participate. Your presence matters, and you are welcome here.
- Sustainable Tier 2 Choose this tier if you have stable employment or a regular income, are able to meet your basic needs and some wants, and can occasionally go out or put a little money aside. At this level, you don’t often worry about making ends meet.
- Generous Tier 3This option is for those with a comfortable income or savings, who may own their home or have access to family wealth. You might go on holidays, eat out regularly, or shop for pleasure. Contributing at this tier helps support the wider community and those accessing the concession rate.
