Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

Come along and do some China-themed Christmas crafting with Global Community and The Business Confucius Institute.

This event is open to any University of Leeds student and is an opportunity to socialise and make friends while helping the Rainbow Junk-tion café at All Hallows Church get ready for Christmas!

Meet a member of staff wearing a purple t-shirt in the entrance of Leeds University Union at 11.30 to walk to the Church together.

We will share food at the Rainbow Junk-tion cafe from 12.00-13.00. The meal will be pay as you feel (you decide what you pay). The café is part of the Real Junk Food network which intercepts food that would otherwise be wasted and turns it into delicious and healthy meals served in the community café.

From 13.00-14.30 you will make beautiful hanging decorations based on the Chinese character for ‘spring’; which just like in English can be associated with life and new beginnings. In China, ‘Spring Festival’ (Lunar New Year) is the equivalent holiday to Christmas – a time when families get together to enjoy good food and good company.

If you prefer, you can make your own way to All Hallows Church and meet us there at 13.00 for the craft workshop.

All materials will be provided. The Christmas crafts will be donated to the café as decorations for a community Christmas Lunch on 25 December, to which you are also invited!
