Chinese Knot Making Workshop
Overview
Chinese New Year Chinese Knot Making Workshop
Celebrate Chinese New Year with an afternoon of creativity, culture, and connection at the beautiful setting of On A Whim, Margate.
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll be introduced to the rich history and symbolism of traditional Chinese knotting — an ancient decorative art form that represents luck, prosperity, protection, and unity. We’ll explore the origins of Chinese knots, along with the meanings behind different knot styles and colours, so you can craft with intention as well as creativity.
You’ll then be guided step-by-step in learning six different traditional knotting techniques, building your skills and confidence as you go. No experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to try something new.
Once you’ve learned the foundations, you’ll have the freedom to design and create your own Chinese knot charm, combining knots, colours, and decorative elements to make a piece that’s uniquely yours — perfect to keep, gift, or hang for good fortune in the year ahead.
✨ All materials are included, along with a warming selection of Chinese teas to enjoy as you craft.
Join us for a relaxed, welcoming session that blends culture sharing, mindfulness, and creativity in a truly special space.
