Event description

Description

China has been the major cultural center of East Asia for about 2000 years. Its religious traditions extend back at least another 1500 years. Over that span of 3500 years, China has produced two major systems of religious as well as philosophical thought and practice (Confucianism and Daoism) and has thoroughly transformed a third (Buddhism), while its popular, unsystematized religious practice have simultaneously developed as a fourth, a semi-independent tradition. This course will give a brief introduction to and discussion on these traditions from a cross-cultural perspective.
