Event description

Description

The North West has seen great growth in the number of light festivals but these are predominantly delivered by visual arts teams and feature little choreography. This session will enable dance artists to diversify and widen their practice by giving them the opportunity to think about how they might innovatively choreograph light.

Julie Brown, from imitating the dog, will lead this two-hour masterclass to debunk the myths around the commissioning process of light festivals and more generally, outdoor festivals. Through this session dance artists and makers will learn how to pitch their ideas to festival commissioners so that they are more likely to succeed in securing future work and diversifying their work strands.

This workshop will help you to:

- Diversify your practice as a dance artist

- Develop skills in applying for commissions

- Inspire your practice

We work to support dance industry professionals across the North West and while we don’t want to charge for these workshops we do ask for a donation if you’d like to attend.
