Event description
Christian Wolmar tells the story of how London's railway stations were built and how they evolved

About this event

London has a dozen major railway stations, more than any comparable city. King's Cross, St Pancras, Euston, Marylebone, Paddington, Victoria, Charing Cross, Cannon Street, Waterloo, London Bridge, Liverpool Street and Fenchurch Street - they are the hub of London's transport system.

Christian Wolmar tells the dramatic story of how these great cathedrals of steam were built, reveals their impact on the capital and explores the evolution of the stations and the city up to the present day.

Starting at 7pm for conversation with the Friends of Highgate Library with the talk at 7:30pm
