    About this event

The smell of home-baked bread is always tempting, but stir in a bit of Christmas spice and it’s an indulgent treat to be devoured.

Join guest chef Andy Tyrrell for a day of bread making with a Christmas twist. You will learn how to bake festive treats such as orange and cranberry brioche, traditional Stollen and a festive focaccia with a veg twist, as well as essential bread making techniques.

Throughout the day, you will bake all of these delicious, festive recipes:

Orange and Cranberry Brioche with a rich and tender crumb

Stollen – a delicious, traditional fruit bread made with brandy soaked raisins and homemade marzipan

Christmas focaccia with a Riverford veg twist – perfect for the Boxing Day spread

Sourdough crackers – delicious with cheese and a glass of wine

Andy will also demonstrate how to bake sourdough flatbreads which you will then enjoy as part of your lunch cooked by The Riverford Field Kitchen chefs.

Not only will you learn delicious, Christmas recipes, you will also learn:

The essential bread making techniques including enriching, kneading, proving and shaping

How to shape bread into ‘free form’ loaves and shape bread for cooking in tins

How to use a pre ferment to enrich the flavour of your breads

    How to make homemade marzipan.

We guarantee you will be full of Christmas spirit (and bread!) at the end of the day and you will go away with hands full of festive, handmade treats!
