Event Details

Homelessness is a big issue. In fact the past few years have seen the biggest rise in homelessness in decades, especially in the capital.

Nearly 100 people turn to The Big Issue each week, often at a time of extreme poverty and utter personal crisis. They’re looking for an opportunity to work for a better life. We work tirelessly alongside Big Issue vendors to help them deal with the issues that either bought them to us in the first instance or issues that have arisen as a result of the experiences they are having. We believe in a Hand Up, not a Hand Out. We aim to connect Big Issue vendors with the vital support and personal solutions that enable them to rebuild their lives; to determine their own pathways to a better future. By joining us at our Christmas Carol Concert this year you will be supporting Big Issue vendors rebuilding their lives. The event is guaranteed to get you in the festive mood whilst raising vitally needed funds for The Big Issue Foundation when we need it the most.

The Christmas Carol Concert will feature a fantastic performance from Freshfields Choir.Freshfields Choir was formed in 2008 and has been run under the guidance of “City Music Services” since its inception. In 2014 the choir toured in Italy, where as well as giving several concerts it sang Mass at St Peter’s Basilica in Rome. It has recently returned from a very successful tour to France, where it gave concerts in Sospel Cathedral and the church of Santa Maria in Breil-sur-Roya.

There will also be a a talk from our CEO Stephen Robertson, talks from current and former Big Issue vendors alongside audience carols, festive drinks and mince pies!

The Big Issue Foundation

The Big Issue Foundation’s mission as a UK charity for people who are homeless or vulnerably housed, is to connect vendors with the vital support and personal solutions that enable them to rebuild their lives; 'to determine their own pathways to a better future.

The Big Issue offers people who are homeless the opportunity to earn their own money; a livelihood. The Big Issue Foundation, as an independent charity for people who are homeless, offers vendors the opportunity of a life. We work tirelessly alongside our vendors to help them deal with the issues that have caused their homelessness or have developed as a result of hitting the streets.
